We have all been there. And if we are really honest, many of us will probably have been there this week! At SASNA we want to let you know you are not alone. Although extremely rewarding, this can be a tough job, and can make you feel very isolated in, what can seem to some to be, a foreign working environment.
In light of this, last year we resurrected the SASNA private Facebook Group where members can ask questions and share ideas with other members. Given the importance we attach to supporting our members, we have instigated a SASNA Mentorship Program under the direction of … well, yours truly. This new program is designed to help nurses new to the role of school nursing, build safe, encouraging and professional relationships with others who have been in the industry for longer and who are willing to share their wealth of knowledge. By connecting with other like-minded people, we can develop a stronger network amongst ourselves and assist to deliver best practice throughout our schools.
With the aim of launching the Mentorship Program later in 2024, we plan to commence a working party imminently and encourage any members passionate about this program to contact loreleis@cedarcollege.sa.ed.au . We very much look forward to seeing how our members work together to grow in confidence, develop new skills, and make their mark in the crazy and wonderful world of school nursing.
Members can access a 2024 article on Establishing a School Nurse Mentorship Program on our website. To become a member of SASNA, at just $75 / year, use the JOIN button on the homepage. For further questions use the GET IN TOUCH button.
